(Washington, D.C.) – As the August recess begins, former U.S. Rep. Tom Davis (R-VA), President of the Republican Main Street Partnership, issued the following statement:
“Democratic leadership should recognize that going it alone will not work. Now is the time to work with centrists on both sides of the aisle to craft bipartisan reform that will work.
“This recess should be seen as an opportunity to restart this important debate and build a truly bipartisan consensus for healthcare reform, rather than just a month-long lull in the partisan war being waged over this critical issue.
“By working with centrists, we can pass healthcare reform that will make quality, affordable healthcare available to all and do so while lowering healthcare costs across the system.”
The Republican Main Street Partnership (RMSP) is dedicated to promoting and building a pragmatic, thoughtful, fiscally conservative, and inclusive “Governing Majority,” where political debate is encouraged to promote solutions to improve the lives of all Americans.
