(Washington, D.C.) – “A new year in Washington provides a new opportunity for real bipartisanship,” said former U.S. Rep. Tom Davis (R-VA), President of the Republican Main Street Partnership. “This administration and this Democratic Congress were elected, in part, because of their promise to end business as usual in Washington. They have an opportunity this year to make good on that promise and end the hyper-partisan climate that has poisoned the legislative process.”

“This can be the year that we pass legislation that will help jump-start our economy, spur job growth, reform our healthcare system, end our dependence on foreign oil and protect our envirnoment for future generations,” continued Davis. “None of this, however, will be accomplished without a meaningful bipartisan commitment to put politics aside and focus on what’s in the best interest of the American people.”

"The Republican Main Street partnership, and our centrist members in both the House and the Senate, stand willing to work with the current leadership to find common-sense solutions to the challenges facing our country.”

The Republican Main Street Partnership (RMSP) is dedicated to promoting and building a pragmatic, thoughtful, fiscally conservative, and inclusive “Governing Majority,” where political debate is encouraged to promote solutions to improve the lives of all Americans. Embracing the full spectrum of center-right ideologies and values in order to build coalitions, RMSP is the largest organization of elected leaders who are in the mold of Abraham Lincoln, Teddy Roosevelt, and Ronald Reagan.
