(Washington,
D.C.)
–
The
Republican
Main
Street
Partnership
today
announced
the
election
of
former
Congressman
Charles
F.
Bass
(R-NH)
to
lead
the
organization
as
President
of
the
Board
of
Directors
and
chief
executive.
The
organization
also
announced
that
Executive
Director
Sarah
Chamberlain
Resnick,
a
licensed
CPA,
will
transition
to
Finance
Director
and
will
continue
to
play
a
key
role
in
its
success.
“I
am
pleased
to
announce
that
long-time
Main
Street
member
Charlie
Bass
has
agreed
to
become
the
new
leader
of
the
Republican
Main
Street
Partnership,”
said
outgoing
Main
Street
President
Tom
Davis
(R-VA).
“I
am
also
pleased
that
Sarah
Chamberlain
Resnick
will
transition
to
Finance
Director
and
continue
her
strong
work
for
the
organization.”
“The
beginning
of
the
110th
Congress
and
the
November
midterm
election
results
should
serve
to
renew
our
faith
and
our
efforts
in
restoring
fiscal
responsibility
and
limited
government
as
true
hallmarks
of
the
Republican
Party,”
said
Bass.
”The
Republican
Party
needs
the
pragmatic,
centrist
leadership
of
the
Republican
Main
Street
Partnership
and
its
elected
members
as a
counter
to
the
new
Democratic
leadership
in
Congress.
We
must
return
to
the
core
values
that
unite
us
as
Republicans
and
Americans,
and
I am
honored
to
lead
this
organization
at a
time
of
such
opportunity,”
said
Bass.
Congressman
Bass
is
well
known
as a
leading
voice
for
centrist
Republicans.
During
his
tenure
in
the
House,
Bass
established
a
significant
legislative
record
of
accomplishment
that
included
lower
taxes
for
working
families,
support
for
a
more
secure
national
defense,
increased
federal
special
education
funding,
campaign
finance
reform,
and
greater
attention
to
scientific
achievement.
As
an
active
member
of
the
House
Energy
and
Commerce
Committee,
Bass
also
worked
to
protect
the
environment
and
open
spaces,
promote
energy
independence,
encourage
growth
in
America’s
high
technology
economy,
and
reduce
the
cost
of
prescription
drugs
and
health
care
access
for
all
Americans.
“The
Republican
Main
Street
Partnership
remains
committed
to
promoting
the
ideals
of
the
Republican
Party;
we
plan
to
be
on
the
front
lines
of
the
fight
to
restore
our
majority
party
status
and
our
success
in
building
a
better
America,”
added
Bass.
“We
will
continue
to
embrace
the
full
spectrum
of
Republican
ideologies
and
values,
and
emphasize
the
core
principles
that
unite
us
as a
party.”
“The
Democrats
have
run
a
well
scripted
and
orchestrated
first
few
weeks
in
control
of
Congress,”
stated
Bass.
“It
remains
to
be
seen
whether
they
will
focus
on
the
needs
and
challenges
facing
the
country
rather
than
reverting
to
partisan
bickering
and
a
self-serving
agenda
that
fails
to
live
up
to
their
promises
to
the
American
people.
We
will
be
there
in
good
faith
to
work
with
them
on
the
hard
challenges
when
they
choose
real
progress
and
we
will
be
there
to
oppose
them
if
they
choose
to
reward
narrow,
special
interests.”
“Charlie
Bass
brings
a
wealth
of
experience
to
Main
Street,
along
with
a
tireless
commitment
to
Ronald
Reagan’s
vision
for
a
big
tent
GOP,”
concluded
Davis.
“We
are
fortunate
to
have
a
man
of
his
tremendous
skills
and
vision
to
lead
Main
Street
at
this
critical
juncture.
His
record
in
the
House
reflects
a
commitment
to
public
service,
a
commitment
that
will
now
extend
to
his
leadership
at
Main
Street.”
Charles
Bass
began
his
career
in
public
service
in
1982
when
he
was
elected
to
the
New
Hampshire
State
House.
In
1988,
Bass
was
elected
to
the
New
Hampshire
State
Senate,
before
being
elected
to
Congress
for
the
first
of
six
terms
in
1994.
